About James

James is a specialist MSK and sports physiotherapist with over 20 years of experience across a variety of sectors, including the NHS, sport, occupational health and ergonomics, and a number of private settings. He has worked in elite and professional sport and has a special interest in CrossFit and running injuries, as well as chronic pain conditions.

James has extensive post-graduate training in an extended range of techniques and treatment approaches. His passion for evidence-based practice, and his commitment to helping people overcome pain and injury in the long term rather than through temporary quick fixes, gimmicks and short-term “fool’s gold”, led him to forge his own path with Barefoot Physio. It is a philosophy born out of the desire to depart from a conveyor-belt model of high patient turnover, choosing quality over quantity.

As demand for his services grew, Barefoot relocated to a bespoke facility and evolved into a holistic, multidisciplinary clinic.

James has developed a specialist interest in the pelvis and the role it plays in movement, pain and rehabilitation. He has undertaken postgraduate training in the treatment of persistent pelvic pain, pelvic floor dysfunction and exercise-related pelvic health concerns. He also supports patients experiencing pelvic girdle pain during pregnancy and provides guidance on exercise during pregnancy and the postpartum period, helping people return to movement with confidence and greater comfort.
