FAQ
Massage FAQs
Is massage only for relaxation?
No. Massage is excellent for reducing stress, and lowering stress often improves how we experience and manage pain. But it’s not just a relaxation tool. Massage can also support recovery from injuries, reduce muscular tension, improve soft-tissue mobility, and help you move with more ease and comfort. The approach is always tailored to your goals — whether that’s relaxation, recovery, or better day-to-day movement.
How long are massage sessions?
Our standard appointments are 60 or 90 minutes, depending on what you prefer. We can also offer longer, bespoke sessions on request if you’d like more time for deeper work, full-body treatment, or a more comprehensive session tailored to your goals.
Does massage hurt?
Massage should not be painful. Some techniques such as deep tissue or sports massage can feel firm or intense, but they should always remain within a comfortable, tolerable range. Your therapist will adapt the pressure, pace, and style to your individual preference and goals. If anything feels too strong or not quite right, you can say so at any time, and the treatment will be adjusted immediately.
How often should I have a massage?
It depends. The ideal frequency varies based on your goals, how your body responds to treatment, and your budget. Some people benefit from weekly sessions—especially during periods of higher training load or recovery from injury. Others prefer a steady rhythm of fortnightly or monthly massages for general wellbeing and maintenance. We also see clients who book ad hoc sessions when they feel they need them. Your therapist can help you decide what frequency is most effective and realistic for you.
Is massage safe for everyone?
Yes, massage is safe. One of the strengths of massage therapy is how adaptable it is; pressure, positioning, and technique can all be tailored to the individual. Before your first session, you’ll complete a health questionnaire and your therapist will carry out a brief assessment to understand your health history, current symptoms, and any specific considerations. This allows us to deliver a treatment that is both safe and effective for you.
Our massage therapists are experienced professionals and are supported by our wider clinical team, ensuring every session is delivered with careful clinical oversight and your wellbeing in mind.
